Earl Gordon

Born In Montreal Canada , Earl from the early age of 5 wanted to be a singer/musician. His interest in drums peaked after going to see the TAMI show and watched the James Brown band perform. Earl at the age of 15 went to Boston to buy his first set of drums but when he stepped into Jack’s Drum Shop, he realized his trip would be in vain after seeing the prices. A drummer who overheard his dilemma stepped in and sold him his demo set of Gretsch ..that drummer was the famous Elvin Jones.
After college Earl joined one of the premier bands in Montreal called Carnival Connection featuring Al Nichols . He then moved to New Orleans where he joined Henry Roeland Byrd (Professor Longhair) from 1971 to 1979 . During that period Earl got the opportunity to play with such greats as James Booker, Henry Butler, Eubie Blake, John Lee Hooker, and Bobby Mcferrin. Following the death of Professor Longhair in 1980 , Earl went into musical retirement.
Earl has recently revived his drumming career and is pursuing musical enlightenment with such greats as Don Peake , the multi talented Aaron Mclain and Diane Lotny . In a quote “these musicians bring out the best in me”!
